4 Gud møtte Bileam, og Bileam sa: «Jeg har reist sju altere og ofret en okse og en vær på hvert.»
5 Herren la et ord i Bileams munn og sa: «Vend tilbake til Balak og gi ham denne beskjeden.»
Bileam vendte tilbake til Balak, som sto ved sitt offer sammen med alle Moabs ledere.
7 Bileam begynte sin spådom: «Balak hentet meg fra Aram, Moabs konge fra fjellene i øst, og sa: ‘Kom, forbann Jakob for meg; kom, fordøm Israel.’
8 Hvordan kan jeg tale mot dem som Gud ikke har talt mot? Hvordan kan jeg motsette meg dem som Herren ikke har motsatt seg?
