17 Forvalteren gjorde som Josef hadde instruert og førte mennene til Josefs hus.
18 Mennene var redde da de ble ført til Josefs hus. De tenkte: «Vi er brakt hit på grunn av pengene som ble returnert i sekkene våre første gang. Han har til hensikt å angripe oss, overmanne oss, og ta oss som slaver, sammen med eslene våre.»
Så de nærmet seg Josefs forvalter og snakket til ham ved inngangen til huset.
20 De sa: «Unnskyld oss, min herre, vi kom virkelig ned hit første gang for å kjøpe mat.
21 Men da vi nådde leirplassen vår, åpnet vi sekkene våre og fant hver manns penger i munningen av sekken hans—pengene våre i sin helhet. Så vi har tatt dem med tilbake.
