21 Da Rehabeam kom til Jerusalem, samlet han hele Judas hus og Benjamins stamme, ett hundre og åtti tusen utvalgte menn, for å kjempe mot Israels hus for å gjenopprette kongeriket til Rehabeam, Salomos sønn.
22 Men Herrens budskap kom til Sjemaja, Guds mann, og sa,
"Si til Rehabeam, Salomos sønn, Judas konge, og til hele Judas hus og Benjamin og til resten av folket og si,
24 'Dette sier Herren: Dere skal ikke dra opp, og ikke kjempe mot deres slektninger, Israels sønner; vend hver mann tilbake til sitt hus, for denne saken er fra Meg.'" Så de lyttet til Herrens ord, og vendte tilbake og gikk sin vei, i henhold til Herrens ord.
25 Jeroboam etablerte Sikem i fjellandet Efraim, og bosatte seg der. Han dro så ut og bygde Pnuel.
